ready, set, party!

Owen had such a fun 5th birthday party!  He was able to  have five friends over (in addition to his siblings - who are a party waiting to happen) as well as Jeff's family.  We all enjoyed his Hot Wheels party.  It was a pleasure to celebrate one of the sweetest boys we know!

a berry sweet time

Another busy weekend: we had a certain little (I mean big!) girls' birthday party.  She chose - and was very excited about - a Strawberry Shortcake theme.  You did know that Strawberry Shortcake is in again, didn't you?  It's like my own childhood all over again when I walk through the store these days...

For the first time ever, I chose not to bake my child's cake/cakes for a party.  We ordered these beauties from a rather famous local cake shop, and they were scrumptious!

Elise had a lovely group of girlfriends over to help celebrate, but as you may remember, I try not to post photos of other people's children on my blog.  Still, here's the birthday girl (and a couple of brothers).

Jeff's parents were able to join us, which is always lovely.   I have the best in-laws!

In the end, it was a very sweet, very pink, very fun day, berry full day.

Owen's Birthday

Last week, Owen celebrated his birthday.

He was only a little bit excited.

He had a "firetruck" party, with several of his favorite friends.

There were games...

cake...

...and presents.

We love you, Owen!  Happy 4th Birthday!

Owen is 3!

My sweet 3rd son is now three years old. His smile, silliness, and sweetness light up our home. We are so blessed to have Owen in our family!

Here are a couple of photos from Saturday (when we celebrated with friends). Owen requested a Curious George party. Somehow, that seemed very appropriate...

*Note: Call me silly, but I have a thing about sharing photos of other people's kids on my blog. I try to avoid it most of the time. So if there might be a chance of your child being included in a featured photo, and you're wondering why they're not there, it's my attempt to respect your privacy. Just wanted to clarify!

a Transformers party

This year, Ben requested a Transformers birthday party. Oy.

We decided to go for it. Here is his birthday cake, complete with food coloring galore.

I was pleased to hear one of the older kids at the party positively identify the cake as being Optimus Prime, shortly after he arrived. It's at least identifiable!

Being short on space, we opted to hold Benjamin's party at a local pizza joint. This certainly cuts down on pre- and post-party cleanup. All the same, we're hoping to celebrate at home next year.

Wait, is that truck on fire?

Ben received his first camera for this, his 7th birthday, and he is so excited. I may be sharing some of his (many) photos in the future. He loves to take pictures...we may have a budding photographer on our hands!

Kyle's 4th Birthday

Happy birthday to my Kyle Warren! You bring joy and laughter into our home each and every day. We love you, Kyle! It's hard to believe it's been four years since you arrived...

Here are a few photos from Kyle's birthday party today. It had a Star Wars theme....hence the lightsabers.

The Darth Vader cake...
...and there really were 4 candles, I promise. Even though it only looks like 2.

Present time!

It was a fun, full day. I can't believe my 3-year-old is four years old!

it's a pirate party

Today we celebrated Ben's birthday (which is coming up in a few days) with a pirate party! It was a lot of fun.

For the first time we had a lunchtime birthday party away from home; it was at a local pizza place, which was really great. No pre-party cleaning, minimal post-party cleaning, a lot more space...and they have a video arcade, which was a big hit.

Here is a photo of the cake, a treasure chest:
Me two scurvy dogs!
Grandpa enjoying some time with his two younger grandsons.
Ben blew out all six candles in one puff!
My boys do enjoy their cake! Here is Pirate Kyle:

And Ben walking the plank:

Inspecting the loot!
We had a great time, it worked out really well. And we had all afternoon at home to figure out how to open all of those toy packages...
